Local Residents Honored as Volunteers of the Year
at Arc's Value Village Store in New Hope

MINNEAPOLIS – Arc's Value Village Thrift Store & Donation Center in New Hope named Jean and Richard Schultz of Golden Valley as its Volunteers of the Year for 2006. This is the first time that the New Hope store’s award has gone to a husband and wife team. The Schultzes were honored for their tremendous contributions at a recognition event on April 14, 2007.

Richard tests all of the appliances to make sure they are in working order before they are put out on the sales floor. Jean spends her time zipping around the store restocking shelves and racks. "Each week, they arrive at the store ready and full of energy for any job that needs to be done. They are enthusiastic, efficient, endearing, generous and fun. It is wonderful to work with them," says Value Village Assistant Manager Christi Adams.

"Value Village has good workers and great service. I feel very, very blessed I'm able to volunteer there," says Jean.

Arc's Value Village Thrift Stores & Donation Centers are successful because of its volunteers, which comprise nearly 75 percent of the stores' workforce. Their donations of time and talent mean that more of the proceeds from Arc’s Value Village support Arc Greater Twin Cities’ programs and services. Visit www.arcsvaluevillage.org to find out more.
