It’s official! Arc’s Value Village Thrift Stores & Donation Centers will become a part of the rich retail history of White Bear Avenue with the opening of Arc’s fourth and largest Twin Cities store in the Hillcrest Shopping Center, 1650 White Bear Ave. N., St. Paul. Hillcrest Shopping Center is just south of Highway 36 on White Bear Avenue, near Aldrich Arena. The store will celebrate with a Grand Opening on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009.

The largest annual public volunteer event with United Way is back for its sixth year. Teaming up with Arc’s Value Village, A Celebration of Sorts is Tuesday, September 15 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the former Mervyn’s store (SE corner) at Southdale Center. Volunteers will sort through and then tag mountains of donated Halloween items which will then be sold at Arc’s Value Village Thrift Stores & Donation Centers in Richfield, New Hope and Brooklyn Center during the Halloween Boo-tique.

Arc’s Value Village Thrift Stores & Donation Centers will open a new store in the fall, 2009, in the Hillcrest Shopping Center, 1650 White Bear Ave. N., St. Paul. Hillcrest Shopping Center is just south of Highway 36 on White Bear Avenue, near Aldrich Arena. It will be the fourth and largest Arc’s Value Village store in the Twin Cities and the first in the east metro.

City Pages recently announced its annual “Best of the Twin Cities 2008” and Arc’s Value Village Thrift Store & Donation Center in Richfield won the Best Used Clothing for Kids category. Arc’s Value Village got kudos for having neatly organized clothes and easy-to-find prices. These attractive features are also on display at the Arc’s Value Village stores in Brooklyn Center and New Hope, too.

Volunteer Gary Rue of Bloomington agreed to paint one wall at Arc’s Value Village Thrift Store & Donation Center in Richfield. The freshly-painted wall looked great — making the one next to it look rather shabby. Rue next took the brush to that wall and so on and so on. What started out as one wall became the whole store. One year later the project was complete and a tally showed that Rue had spent 270 hours painting store walls. Arc’s Value Village staff recently honored him with a fitting tribute — a Golden Paintbrush Award.
